Introducing the repertoire that will fill the stage of our 20th-anniversary concert.

The choir’s performance will be divided into two main sections.

First, the opening stage will feature a selection of significant pieces from over 50 concerts held in the past 20 years. We will showcase a medley of key works that CKC has performed, allowing us to rediscover the footsteps, memories, and growth of the choir. We look forward to this stage as a chance to reflect on our journey.

The second stage will present the commissioned work “Amerirang” by composer Oh Yong-cheol, created to celebrate CKC’s 20th anniversary. This piece aims to honor the 20th anniversary of the choir and mark the closing moment of our celebration. It seeks to share the pride of Korea with the Korean community and choir members living in the United States, reflecting on their strong spirit and perseverance over the years. It also seeks to pass down the national spirit and soul to the next generation, confirming and resonating with our shared historical identity.

The commissioned piece will feature elements of both Korean and American sentiments, using folk songs, popular music, and more. It will be a grand work involving all performers: soloists, samulnori (traditional Korean percussion ensemble), orchestra, and the choir, coming together to create a monumental performance.

The invited performers and groups joining us include the Samulnori ensemble from KPAC (Korean Performing Arts Institute of Chicago), tenor Jin Cheol-min, soprano Lee Ji-min, as well as the CKC Scholastic Orchestra and the CKC Festival Orchestra.
