Interest Seminar

“The Aging Voice in Choral and Solo Settings”
September 26 (Tues.) 2017 7:30 pm at Bethany Lutheran Church — Open to the Public
Guest Speaker: Dr. Melissa Malde (A Professor of University of Northern Colorado)
As the voice ages, dramatic changes begin to occur in the vocal folds and in the neuromuscular control of the larynx. This seminar will describe theses physiological changes followed by a thorough discussion of what can be done
with exercise: warm-up, making, and pacing to avoid fatigue; managing voice breaks and instabilities; avoiding slow and wide vibrato; and singing mezza voce. In particular, we will discuss how the sing voice and the speaking voice can remain connected.
